A muffin a day.
Who says it has to be an apple?
Summer berry, Mother's Day Metropolitan Bakery millet muffins and Frog Commissary's Cinnamon sugar topped muffins. All baked, delivered and by now I hope, eaten. YUM.
Too many years ago my riding teacher, Jackie turned me on to muffins. She had had a "morning muffin delivery run" as a young working girl. Now a muffin run of any sort would be fun enough, but her freshly baked muffins were delivered early morning on horseback. NO! This was not before cars and no, this was not in the hills of neverland. In Marblehead, Massachusetts Jackie Gay delivered morning muffins on Florian. Then, Jackie Gay taught riding in Potomac, Maryland. She taught me to ride and she taught me to cook and we became best friends. Most evenings we met at the barn and rode, side by side around fields all the while Jackie recited to me The Lord of the Rings...which she loved as much as riding and baking muffins. I didn't really care about The Lord of the Rings but I loved Jackie and would have listened to her recite bank statements just to be with her. Besides, we were cantering and trotting in the twilight over fields of soft grass and maybe we'd go in after we put our horses away for the night and make muffins.
A "muffin a day keeps the doctor away" just sounds a whole lot friendlier to me.
