House Party.

The silver my mother had chosen as a young bride was polished.
Pillows were fluffed.
Favorite cookies were baked.
The bar was readied for action.
Flowers were arranged.
Coffee cake cooled.
Presents were wrapped.
Birthday pies waited for their moment of glory.

Thirty-six hours. We celebrated and ate, laughed and ate, toasted and drank. Some read, some napped, some went to the movies and others out to lunch. My son-in-law turned thirty-two and we are charmed by his presence in our family.
